The Mach6 weighs in between 7.8 – 8.3 oz, making it a true midweight paddle, and arrives with a medium grip circumference of 4.25".

"I remember talking to Riley Newman about this paddle at the end of last year; he was so excited to start playing it. He told me that it was going to take his game to a new level. It had the shape of the Vanguard Hybrid Mach6, with a thinner core. He was excited about how he’d be able to attack and be even more aggressive in his play. I have worn a ball or two off a Riley Newman paddle, so I decided I would rather try this paddle on my own.

He was right in every aspect. This paddle is thinner. The X6 Polymer Honeycomb core is only .4” thick. It slices through the air and really allows you to attack a ball left up. The Mach6's long handle still cries for two handed shots. I was surprised by the amount of top spin I could generate with a two handed backhand.

The flight of the ball on shots with the Vanguard Power paddles is hard and low. As long as you are consistent hitting the sweet spot you can really attack your opponent. This is a players paddle that delivers the promised power. You just have to make sure you stay center on the paddle. I, alas, am not one of those players. My game is based on control and not power. I need the forgiveness and the larger sweet spot of the Vanguard Hybrid models to be effective. However, I know this – I am none too excited to stand on the opposite side of the net from Riley as he smokes one to my midsection. I’ll do it – I’m just not excited about it."
