Description

Wilson Pickleball Net

The Wilson Pickleball Net is the only pickleball net that works with the Wilson Pickleball Posts. This net has specially-designed hooks that are compatible with the unique crank system found only on the Wilson Posts. This net is meant for use with permanent, in-ground posts. The heavy-duty material promises to stand the test of time. However, while this net is made from resilient products, it can get damaged if introduced to extreme weather conditions or left outside for extended periods of time.

The Wilson Net is comprised of intertwining black 3-millimeter braids of polyethylene which create the net itself. This is an extremely tough material. The top ridge of the net is hugged by a pure white 23-ounce vinyl headband, which protects the integrity of the net. A 27-foot long cable runs inside of this band, and neatly attaches to the Wilson Poles. There is approximately 30” of cable on either side of the net outside of the headband. A 1/2” diameter fiberglass dowel slides through pockets on the two sides of the net to maintain its shape.

The Wilson Pickleball Net measures 21 feet 9 inches wide and 36 inches high. For additional tips on installation, see the technical specifications tab and the video below.

How to set up the Wilson Posts and Net:

Transcript of Video #2 above, with PickelballCentral.com owner David Johnson

Hi David Johnson with Pickleball Central talking today about how to set up Wilson posts and the Wilson net for pickleball. We have two different types of Wilson nets, the standard and the heavy-duty. They both basically go together the same way. You want to place your posts approximately 22 feet, 4 inches apart the center of your pickleball court. They typically get put into a plastic PVC sleeve that is put two feet into the ground. The pin will actually keep the post when you slide it in at the correct height so that it’s 36 inches at the top. And so your post will go into the sleeve and the pin will stop it at the correct place. Both posts have a pin like this.

So when your posts are embedded in the ground and you’re ready to put the net on, you have the wire cable that goes through the net and it has a loop at both ends. So one loop on the net is going to go over your cleat on the cleat side of the post. And then the cable will run up over the pulley at the top of the post. And that will run you down to the other side of the net then. And down here on the crank there is a pin on the inside of the crank and the other end of the net with the loop on it will go into and around the pin and that’s what going to allow you when you tighten up over the pulley on this end allows you when you tighten up over the pulley on this end allows you to tighten the net. By the way, we’re doing this indoors and so we’ve just rigged this up. And you tighten it up until the net at the center of the court is at 34 inches. If the center’s at 34 inches, it should be 36 inches out here at the post, and you basically have the net at the correct height.

The final component of putting the net in, is each Wilson net comes with two rods, and the rod goes into the end sleeve on both ends of the net and it’s just the right length. And then there’s a lacing technique that you will use to lace up the net to the post. I’m not going to show that in this video, but a diagram of that will be available on the website. And your lacing is going to go through the grommets here at the top and on the side and so you’re going to have a good lacing at the top to help hold it and then you will lace down through the four different grommets and that’s going to bring it up nice and tight to the edge of the post. And you will have a net that looks good and is ready to play pickleball. Thank you.

Most Useful Customer Reviews

Wilson Pickleball net
Reviewer: Margaret Zimmerman from Bear Lake, MI United StatesThe steel cable in the top of this net should prove superior to any nylon/dacron line exposed to the elements outside. We're extremely happy. The net could be a tad narrower as it drags on the court at 36/34" as the game specifies, but the quality of the net is really heavy duty.

Installing Pickleball net on posts
Begin installing your net by connecting the loop end of the net cable to the post cleat. Take the other cable loop and hook it into the pin on the crank assembly and begin winding. Continue to crank the post so that the net is at 34” at the center of the court.Fit Dowels/side stakes into the side pockets of the nets.Install lacing cord at each end by making a 2” knotted loop on one end of the lacing cord. Run the other end through both grommets in the headband and around the post through the 2” loop and back around the post in the opposite direction. Continue wrapping the cord around the post, tie off the cord at the bottom of the post. Repeat for the other post. When you are finished the net should be fully extended so that it completely fills in the space between the two posts. During the off-season or when winterizing your courts, remove the net.Your installation is now complete and your net should sit comfortably but somewhat tightly between the two posts with a very small gap between the net and net posts
