Chief Revenue Officer - D2C E-Comm

Pickleball Central is the world’s largest seller of pickleball equipment and has grown year-over-year at a rate of over 30%. We operate six pickleball e-commerce web sites, including www.PickleballCentral.com. We seek a dynamic individual to drive the growth of our company.

The Chief Revenue Officer has responsibility for of all our company's revenue streams. The CRO has ultimate accountability for driving revenue growth, by leveraging and aligning all revenue-generating departments:

  • Marketing
  • Sales
  • Customer Experience/Customer Success

The Chief Revenue Officer must be prepared to take on these responsibilities:

  1. Develop growth strategies with the executive team and board of directors
  2. Drive best-in-class e-commerce presence, combining cost-effective technology with deep, relevant, and informative content
  3. Create accountability within your ranks by developing appropriate metrics and coordinating compensation and promotions with these metrics
  4. Maintain and grow key vendor partner relationships and develop relationships with new vendor partners
  5. Monitor the revenue pipeline, adjusting as necessary to create sustainable growth
  6. Establish both short-term results and long-term strategy, including revenue forecasting
  7. Monitor the strategies and processes across the revenue cycle from customer acquisition to engagement to success, while maintaining our strong customer satisfaction focus
  8. Fill management gaps by building and training individuals and teams
  9. Oversee all Channel/Partner Development -- adding new sales channels and 3rd party resellers and partners
  10. Oversee our Technology Platform Management
  11. Coordinate procurement to align with sales projections
  12. Drive a “lean startup” style environment of constant experimentation and learning
  13. Leverage customer research (quantity and quality) to provide strategic leadership for brand architecture and positioning

The CRO must

  • have the ability to articulate and deliver a strong revenue and profit growth strategy
  • be able to see and clearly communicate the company vision and the revenue strategy across all relevant functions and ensure the right goals are defined and met
  • must regularly
    • measure and analyze effectiveness,
    • form strategic product roadmaps,
    • create market positioning and competitive advantages, and
    • determine budget trade-offs with a goal of continually improving and developing sustainable results
  • be data-driven / metrics driven
  • demonstrate strong negotiating skills
  • assume a long-term, integrated perspective while also striving to drive monthly revenue results – he or she commits to short-term results, forecasts future revenue, and takes accountability for both short-term success and longer-term strategy
  • have deep experience in the e-commerce ecosystem
  • show a track record of using digital media / social media to drive customer acquisition and sales
  • have experience and knowledge of the Amazon sales environment, both FBA and FBM
  • have had experience driving a minimum of $15 million in revenue

Human Resource Generalist for Pickleball Companies

Two pickleball companies with common ownership seek a part time HR Generalist.

  • PickleballCentral.com is the world’s largest seller of pickleball equipment and has grown year-over-year at a rate of over 30%. PickleballCentral.com was founded in 2006 on the principal of treating customers like we would like to be treated when shopping online. This same, “Golden Rule” principal is how we treat our employees.
  • PickleballTournaments.com is the leading pickleball tournament management software. Most all the employees work remotely and sometimes work at pickleball tournaments across the country.
These two companies together have nearly 50 employees and enjoy a happy work culture. It is not uncommon for employees to say this is the best place they have ever worked.

We seek an experienced and passionate HR Generalist who will help us maintain our current culture while scaling standard methodologies, policies, and practices as we continue our growth.

This position has two phases.

Phase One: Review and work with owners to update our current policies, procedures and practices including record keeping and reporting, wage policies and compensation. During this phase work may be full time.

Phase Two: Maintain best HR practices as new employees are onboarded and address situations as they come up with employees and changes in the law. Help managers with employee relations and employee development, performance reviews and coaching. During this phase work will be as needed, likely around one day a week.

This position reports to the COO and works closely with the CEO and accounting department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Review and update company policies in an employee handbooks for PickleballCentral.com and PickleballTournaments.com.
  • Onboard new employees.
  • Oversees the administration of employee benefit programs including medical and dental, 401(k), and disability/leaves.
  • Manage unemployment claims and maintain correspondence with the State.
  • Maintain required employment posters required by state and local laws and regulations.
  • Manage L&I claims.
  • Process ownership for employee relations management, including disciplinary and performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with managers on people matters that require in-depth knowledge of policies, procedures, state, federal and local law, across multiple states (we have several employees who live out of state) and when necessary, utilize legal counsel.
  • Lead the exit process, including conducting exit interviews.
  • Advise managers on compensation matters.
  • Support managers and employees in identifying capability gaps to further develop functional and managerial skills.
  • Support managers with career conversations, development and career growth plans and other development initiatives.
  • Support manager education initiatives to further drive collective education and manager effectiveness.
  • Support the company with training on anti-harassment and other topics as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related function. PHR/SPHR or SHRM certification a plus.
  • At least 4 years of HR generalist/administration experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in employee benefits administration.
  • Able to engage with employees in all areas of the organization and build credibility while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Great attention to detail with accurate data entry, analysis, and reporting. Good grasp of technology to build efficient reporting and make solutions easier for employees.
  • Problem solving skills and resourceful in identifying options and solutions.
  • Strong sense of urgency to meet commitments, follow up and results focused.
  • Comfortable and competent working with external benefit partners.
  • Strong business literacy acumen.
  • Capability to expand HR capability and grow with the company.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment law, hiring practices, basic benefits, and compensation administration.
  • Experience working with remote employees is a plus.
  • Pickleball player is a plus :-)
